Why I love traveling and walking

Walking through hills of gorse and heather with the sea as a backdrop is too stunning for words and something you can’t capture in a book. You have to be there to feel the joy of the nature spirits and thank them for their beautiful work.

Then, there is the part about meeting people and dogs. At the end of today’s 10.5 mile trek we stopped to rehydrate in the Driftwood Spar Inn in St Agnes. There must have been six friendly dogs with their owners in there.

People seem to like our American accents and everyone wants to know what we’re doing, how we like Great Britain, and someone even wanted to know how old we are! Maybe he thought we could be in the book of world records for the most charming ladies walking the South Coast Path. Maybe it is our hats that are so attractive. Candy is the only other lady in all of Cornwall I’ve seen with a hat.

I like to find out what people think about things, like Britain leaving the European Union or the refugee situation, so I can understand them better and pray for God’s solutions. Other people must feel the same way because when we drew near to St Agnes, we found a Buddha and two butterflies on a bench. I did not put them there…honest!

Here are Amy and John, the owners of our excellent B&B in Newquay, who left their techie jobs to take up their life in Cornwall. They created Gecko’s Rest. Great selection from Contours UK–the company that did a fine job arranging everything for our stay.

I also like traveling and walking because I can ask for God’s violet light of forgiveness to clean up records of any of my past lives that may have been in the area (even though I don’t remember them) or events that have happened through the centuries. I thought these World War II bunkers were a good place to do that.

Then there’s the food and the company I enjoy very much (but some people say I’m too focused on the food part.) What time is breakfast??

IMG_4544IMG_4545For you “Poldarkians.” (You know who you are.)

A sunny Saturday in Perranporth and errata from yesterday: Candy did NOT soak her hat in Jello. It was GELATIN. And I was trying to decide between lemon-lime and strawberry.

I was thinking about you today because all you have to do is go someplace like Point Reyes. You can probably even get the tea and scones. 😊

Lois I was a little concerned about the Jello … glad that’s cleared up.
What a great journey … St Agnes the home of one or two Dawn French series highlighting the Cornish humor.
