I just finished a great book by M.M. Kaye–The Far Pavilions. Set in India, this is a classic and you can’t stop turning the 955 pages. What I loved about it is Ms. Kaye’s theme that the world religions each have an inner core that leads us to the top of the mountain. This is one of my main points in Issa–The Greatest Story Never Told.
Why are the world religions hotbeds of conflict with one another? Shouldn’t religion exemplify tolerance and even honoring the different paths to God? We probably all know the answer to that. When people want power or wealth, they often cloak it in the name of religion. The desire for unity and understanding are keener now than ever. Peace between religions is one of the things that strikes a chord with many Issa readers. I believe that is what Jesus demonstrated in his work and I strove to portray as he journeyed through India and the Himalayas.
